Instructor Level Requirments
The following are the requirments for the different levels for BWSD instructors. Male instructor requirements are to the far right and always include a background check and the approval of all senior instructors.

| Senior Instructors | 7 week course, repeat of a basic course, Intermediate Physical Resistance, Intermediate Padded Assailant, one elective Intermediate course, and outside training. Approval of Chief Instructor. | 10 hours at the instructor level as the lead instructor. | Able to teach intermediate classes and approve assistant through instructor level | 10 hours at the instructor level as the lead instructor. |
| Instructors | 7 week course, repeat of a basic course, at least one intermediate course, outside training (AWSDA, RAD, Girls Fight Back, BLET, etc.) Approval by the senior instructors. | 20 hours at assistant or assistant instructor level, and observe at least one safety talk. | Able to teach basic classes and give safety talks independently. | 20 hours assisting, including 10 hours as a padded assailant, outside or advanced training. |
| Assistant Instructors | 7 week course, repeat of a basic course, at least one intermediate course, approval by senior instructors | 10 hours of class time at the assistant level. | Able to lead portions of class. | 10 hours assisting, including 5 hours as a padded assailant. |
