Our Mission:
The FBI estimates that 1 out of every 3 women in America will be involved in a sexual assault at some point in their lives. To us, that is unacceptable. We feel the best way to stop sexual assault is to give women the tools they need so they can defend themselves. By training women to avoid the dangerous situations they can avoid and fight in the ones they cannot, our goal is to keep women safe. The sexual predators get no victories. Together, as instructors and students, we can make a difference. We can change things.
Awareness, not Fear:
We are big supporters of strong laws, social change, and law enforcement. Everything that can be done to stop rape should be tried. We applaud and respect fathers, brothers, and husbands that try to make sure their daughters, sisters, and wives are safe. However, our rape prevention program is build on the idea that there are only two people guaranteed to be at the scene of a sexual assault: the rapist and the woman he is attacking. By empowering women with the knowledge and tactics to defend themselves, we are adding another layer of protection in addition to whatever else was already in place… a layer of protection that is always on hand.
What We Teach:
Our classes and courses are designed for women only. No outside observers are allowed. While most of our instructors have extensive backgrounds in the martial arts, our program in not martial arts based. We take a very practical approach. The techniques we teach are simple, effective, and specifically tailored for women to use in sexual assault situations.
Who We Teach:
Our students range in age from 13 to 70. We work around injures, phobias, and financial obstacles. We have taught seminars at UNCG, Duke University, Peace College, and at a variety of locations around the triangle area including the NBS Gym. We hold regular courses at Meredith College and the Cary Academy. We teach students, real estate agents, church groups, and even the Carolina Roller Girls. Our goal is to make sure every woman who wants training can get it. We have in the past and will continue in the future to refer women to other instructors in the area if we cannot provide the specific training they need.
Ready to Get Started?
Throughout the year, we offer several different seminars and clinics.
The mainstay of our program is the Women's Safety Course at Meredith College. However, we often put together courses for interested groups of women. Look through our course descriptions and our event calendar. When you’re ready, or if you have questions, contact us at bushidowsd@hotmail.com. We look forward to training with you.
